As we all know, the Nutraceutical market is forever evolving to find sustainable and alternative substitutes to animal-derived products and formulations to ensure everyone, at all ages and stages of life, has access to the necessary vitamins and minerals their bodies need.

That’s where Phytodroitin™ comes in.

Phytodroitin™ is a 100% plant-origin alternative to Chondroitin.

Chondroitin is obtained from animal sources, mostly shark cartilage, and has been used for many years as a supplement for bone and joint ailments and diseases.

The study:

We engaged Nottingham Trent University (NTU) in the UK to compare the mucopolysaccharide structure of Phytodroitin™ with Chondroitin Sulphate of Bovine, Shark and Avian origins, together with a standard Chondroitin Sulphate (bovine trachea origin) obtained from Sigma Aldrich.

NTU used Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, sampling of the powders being performed using the attenuated total reflectance technique:

Results:

Phytodroitin™ proved to be almost identical in mucopolysaccharide structure to Chondroitin Sulphate of Shark origin, and particularly Chondroitin of Avian origin. Chondroitin Sulphate of Bovine origin showed a slightly different spectrum to the other sources but was consistent with the standard (no surprise, as it was also of bovine origin).

Phytodroitin™ comes in an easy to consume powder form, which is the perfect addition to any nutritional supplement product (recommended daily allowance is 400mg).

Phytodroitin™ is proven to have various benefits in a wide range of nutritional supplement products, these include:

  • Sports performance products
  • Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis treatments
  • General Bone & joint health formulas
  • Vegan & Vegetarian products
  • Supplements targeting older consumers

We use only purpose-grown botanical ingredients to ensure sustainability and provide adequate quality and purity during the creation of this product.
